“ The bagel was delicious! You could tell both the lox and the bagel were fresh, so everything together made a great lox sandwich. I've been thinking about it now for the last 3 weeks since I've been there. ”

“ I was so excited to try the fish sandwich combos here and they were delicious! We got the Brooklyn Native (nova, whitefish salad and herring on a bialy) and Shelsky's Pastrami (pastrami lox, mustard, herring and sauerkraut on pumpernickel bread) and they were both delicious. Both sandwiches were not huge and $20 but packed with fish. I think they would have been more filling if we got them on bagels, but everything had great flavor. This place is pretty casual - what you'd expect from a deli. There are two small tables inside that seat two people each so it's mostly a grab and go spot. When we went on Saturday there was a long line but it moves fast! I'd love to come back and try more sandwiches and items such as their latkes and knishes! ”
“ We were staying about a 6 minute drive and looking for a good bagel spot for breakfast and Shelsky's came up with good reviews. We were definitely not disappointed and really enjoyed the bagels. We ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese and bacon which we liked but next time we would try it on a different bagel. We got the egg, sausages and cheese bagel which we ordered on an egg bagel but they gave us plain but it was still good. Overall good bagel place and we would come back! ”

They did have a huge spread of lox/fish and cream cheeses that looked really fresh, you might have better luck with those. Inside feels very "old school" New York. There's a few seats but mostly grab and go. ”

The ordering system was a little confusing, but just remember to grab a ticket so that when you place your order you can hand your ticket to the staff. I ordered a toasted everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, lox, and wasabi tobiko. To my knowledge, this is the only place that I've seen offer wasabi tobiko - and for me, that is an ultimate win. If I could have this sandwich every day, I would. Bagel had lots of seasoning, was dense and slightly tough - but the rest of the sandwich made up for it! And I will say, it was pretty generous portions for the price ($17 ish). The storefront is pretty crowded, so I recommend heading in and heading out because there are only a few seats to dine in and a bench to sit outside. ”

I was especially excited to try their pastrami lox and their salt and cracked peppercorn bagel which I had read about in the NY Times. The salt and peppercorn bagel were - to my tastebuds - inedible.
